VISITING  IBO  ISLAND

A day trip to Ibo Island is not feasible and there are no commercial boat transfers by sea between Pemba to Ibo.  Traditional Dhows have difficulty going around Ponta do Diabo (Point of the Devil) especially during June – September.

By Air
Initially, it would be ideal to take a 25 minute flight to Ibo Island in a light aircraft over the spectacular Quirimba Islands, leave your car here for safe keeping, we can take and pick you up at the airport at no charge.
Please ask somebody to phone us to pick you up on take off, as the flight schedule changes all the time due to the weather.
The small planes are 206 Cessma 206, Airvan and Caravan that fly from Pemba Airport, bookings with Kaskazini (Tourist information)

By Road
Adventurous  Taxi will pick up at 04h00 and take you into Pemba Town to catch a bus to Quissanga – Tadanhanque. The trip is about six hours, then a high tide sea transfer to Ibo Island. 
Kaskazini offers car transfers with a safe driver
departing 08h00 arriving 11h30 = three half hours.
Own vehicle 60 km = three & half hours through the Quirimba National Park to Tadanhangue.  For safety Park your vehicle just past Quisanga at Tandanhangue.  Take note on passing in the inter tidal zone  (spring tide high cars can not drive through the swamp area)  parking is @ 100mt/day.

Then only at two hours before & after High Tide (window time) you can get a lift from a dhow @ 50mts per person = an hour.
Or arrange with Cinco Portes to be picked with their boat (1-8 persons max) @ 45 us$ = half hour.
